Under Ronan's the direction the team finished with overall record of 5-16 and defeated Wright State, 4-2, in the second round of the Horizon League Tournament. With only one returning player from the previous season, Ronan worked to recruit five talent players who will work to make the team a strong competitor in the league in seasons to come.

YSU began competition in the Horizon League in 2001-02. He took over the men's program from women's head coach Michele Grim, who was the head coach of both squads.
Ronan has been the tennis director at the Canfield Swim and Tennis Club since 1993. He was a part of four team championships. While at Canfield, he was the president of their league for two years.
